Sustainable Creativity and Process Art in Nature

About Us

Art Buds Collective is a social enterprise dedicated to the delivery of sustainable arts education for children across Edinburgh. We are crazy about creativity, process art and protecting our planet. Our classes for young people and adults promote sustainability and celebrate the creative journey. We would love you to join us on our adventures.

Art Buds offers classes and workshops for children, young people and adults at various outdoor locations in and around Edinburgh. Our mission is to inspire creativity, and enhance understanding of the natural world and the role we can all play in protecting it.

Recent funding awards from Creative Scotland and Firstport have allowed us to start delivering fully funded projects to support access to arts for young people in Scotland.

Our Values

  • We believe every human has the right to create, and that we must work to remove the barriers that exist to creative engagement.

  • We actively promote exploration of artistic process as a means to improve wellbeing and increase our understanding of the world.

  • We are committed to celebrating multiple points of view and strive for inclusion across race, gender, age, religion, identity and experience.

  • We are committed to protecting the natural environment and putting sustainability at the heart of our art-making.

  • We believe in nurturing and respecting individuals on their creative journey through a person led approach.

  • We believe in celebrating kindness and engaging curiosity every day.

Our Philosophy

Process vs Product

Process Art is child-led, explorative, and full of wonderful surprises. It celebrates the experience of making and discovering, and the joy of creativity. In process art, the focus is on play with materials, exploration of techniques and the creative journey.

Create Sustainably

Working for a sustainable future means building a better world for all of us. A world in which a few individuals don't take more than their fair share and resources are spread equally. A sustainable future is not just what we need, it's what we want.

Engage Curiosity

Curiosity is the beating heart of Art Buds Collective. Whether in the forest, on the hillside or at the beach the first invitation we give a child, is to be curious. Read on to find out why we think curiosity is intrinsically linked to creativity.
